Walgreens received 4,300 additional first doses of the vaccine directly from the Centers for Disease Control as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. The program is a collaboration among the federal government, states and territories, and 21 national pharmacy chains and independent pharmacy networks to increase access to COVID-19 vaccination across the United States.
Working with state officials, Walgreens is offering vaccination ahead of March 1 so the state can offer more of its supply to eligible Vermonters, reaching as many people as possible.

DRIFTLESS - Over the past week COVID-19, diagnoses statewide increased from 555,708 on Monday, Feb. 15 to 559,998 on Monday, Feb. 22. That is a statewide increase of 4,290 cases. The number of deaths increased from 6,166 to 6,284, an additional 118 deaths, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The U.S. reached a grim milestone last weekend, now recording over 500,000 deaths from COVID-19 in the last year.
According to the DHS e-newsletter published on Friday, Feb. 19, in just two months Wisconsin is one of the best states in the country for administering vaccine and has achieved one million doses administered. We have also reached 40 percent of the 65 and older population who have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Walgreens has been added to the list of pharmacies offering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible Oregonians.
Walgreens joins Albertsons, Safeway, Costco and Health Mart as the Oregon pharmacies that receive weekly vaccine doses through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program.
Elderly Oregonians who have managed to schedule appointments at the pharmacies have reported positive experiences after facing struggles trying to schedule appointments through the state’s vaccination scheduling website at mass vaccination sites like the Oregon Convention Center or Portland International Airport.
Update, 3 p.m.: DC Health notified the public this afternoon that a “technical review failure” meant newly eligible residents were unable to register for the COVID-19 vaccine. “As the IT team worked to stabilize the website due to heavy traffic, there were delays in finding and fixing the issue with the eligibility criteria,” the agency said. The agency apologized for the added stress, and announced that it’d be making 3,500 appointments available to people who couldn’t sign up namely, residents with specific medical conditions living in priority zip codes on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. People can sign up through vaccinate.dc.gov or the call center.
