KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Land Development Authority’s (Felda) recovery measures are expected to bring about positive results in 2023, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. The measures include the setting up of a task force to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of Felda’s recovery plan to ensure the agency achieves the set key performance indicators, he said. The task force chaired by Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar will strictly monitor the measures so they are implemented more effectively and smoothly, Mustapa said.

Tok Pa: Felda s debts currently stand at RM10 7bil

To ensure Felda s daily operations and commitment to provide services to settlers will run smoothly, Felda had to make some loans and now is facing a debt of RM10.7bil, said the Minister in the Prime Minister s Department (Economy). He told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Dec 14) that the government has agreed to give a two-year moratorium to the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) due to financial and liquidity issues. Mustapa had said in the Dewan Rakyat that Felda had told the government that it could not afford to pay some of its debts and was facing some liquidity problems worth RM1.3bil.
