Ottawa building contractors roll out new procedures to respond to evolving demands

Mar 3, 2021 This article originally appeared in the BOMA Ottawa Commercial Space Directory. Read the full publication here. Just as the 9/11 attacks forever heightened security measures around the world, the global pandemic could have the potential to change the way we think about the sanitization and disinfection of buildings and public spaces. The devastating health and economic impact of the coronavirus will likely remain in our collective memory for years to come, even post-vaccination. “Nobody is ever going to take something like this lightly again and say, ‘Oh well, it’s just some kind of flu coming from overseas,’” says Jeffrey Supino, vice-president of strategic development for Allen Maintenance, an Ottawa-based janitorial company that cleans commercial, industrial and institutional buildings. “Cleaning and disinfecting will remain at the forefront of priorities.”

New Report Highlights $3 26 Billion in 2020 U S Securities Class Action Settlements

Traders Magazine ISS Securities Class Action Services – New Report Highlights $3.26 Billion in 2020 U.S. Settlements The world was truly turned upside down in 2020 when the novel Coronavirus became the world’s deadliest pandemic in more than a century. With different environmental and health factors affecting global economics, United States Federal and State Courts adapted quickly to the new norms and remained adamant in performing its functions. Democrats Need H R 1 and the New VRA to Protect Voting Rights

The Atlantic The most explosive battle in decades over access to the voting booth will reach a new crescendo this week, as Republican-controlled states advance an array of measures to restrict the ballot, and the U.S. House of Representatives votes on the federal legislation that represents Democrats’ best chance to stop them. It’s no exaggeration to say that future Americans could view the resolution of this struggle as a turning point in the history of U.S. democracy. The outcome could not only shape the balance of power between the parties, but determine whether that democracy grows more inclusive or exclusionary. To many civil-rights advocates and democracy scholars I’ve spoken with, this new wave of state-level bills constitutes the greatest assault on Americans’ right

United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Finds That Louisiana Citizen Suit Legacy Claims Can be Heard in Federal Court | Liskow & Lewis

In its recent decision in Grace Ranch, L.L.C. v. BP America Production Company, et al., No. 20-30224 (5th Cir. Feb. 24, 2021), the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit addressed a question that has increasingly become a sticking point in Louisiana “legacy” cases:  whether claims brought under a Louisiana citizen suit provision for alleged violations of state environmental regulations can be heard in federal court. This decision is likely to have far-reaching consequences for Louisiana legacy litigation, where courts have seen a recent uptick in claims by landowner-plaintiffs brought under the citizen suit provision of Louisiana Revised Statute 30:16, seeking to have their property remediated due to alleged contamination by historical oil and gas operations.
