RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota teachers can now get their COVID vaccinations as new eligibility phases kick in.
In a state that prioritized reopening schools last fall, educators are expressing relief – including those who kept working under distance-learning models. Teachers are in the latest priority group for vaccinations, according to the state health department.
Either through the Federal Pharmacy Program or through state providers, staff across the state are taking advantage – including Carol Waider, who teaches second-grade in Meade County.
She said throughout the academic year, she’s felt a lot of pressure to follow safety protocols so she could keep going into the classroom.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ New Jersey keeps expanding the number of its available COVID-19 vaccination sites, with new locations recently added to the state s ever-evolving list.
In Essex County alone, there are more than 30 places to get a vaccine if you qualify. Supply shortages have limited the number of people who can get a shot, however, and demand is far outpacing the available doses – a nationwide issue (read more below).

With the newly approved Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine providing health officials with an additional option for vaccinating those eligible, CVS announced it will be expanding its vaccination program to nearly 150 more locations in New York, including many in the Hudson Valley.
CVS Pharmacy, which had already been receiving vaccine doses as part of the Federal Pharmacy Program, which are earmarked for specific chains, announced this week that it will be ramping up its vaccination program due to an increased allocation of the vaccine.
Those who are eligible and interested in getting vaccinated are now able to register for appointments, with scheduling beginning as of Friday, March 5, and inoculations planned to begin the following day.
