The Federal Grand Jury in Beaumont has indicted a Kirbyville man following numerous thefts from mail boxes last year. 37-year-old William Cody Shaver is accused of stealing mail out of mailboxes in several communities in Newton County.
The investigation began in September of 2020 and after tabbing Shaver as their suspect, Billy Rowles, who was Sheriff of Newton County at the time, said that deputies found the man in possession of hundreds of pieces of mail, which included several credit or debit cards and personal identification information from the victims.
Rowles said at the time that it was a tip that helped investigators to develop Shaver as a suspect.
