The 2017 redesign of S. 5th St. continues to draw new investment to Walker’s Point.
From W. Virginia St. on the north to W. Washington St. on the south, the city undertook a comprehensive rebuilding of the street that resulted in sidewalks being widened from 7.5 feet to 18.5 feet and a number of street trees being planted. Businesses took note of the pedestrian-friendly environment and began arriving in droves, repurposing existing buildings into breweries, restaurants, stores and an architectural studio. Coakley Brothers put the cherry on top when it added an artistic water tower to its seven-story headquarters as part of a renovation effort.

New facility and equipment to observe the sky
SUNRIVER, Ore. (KTVZ) Central Oregon s clear nights make for dazzling views of the night the sky. To accommodate steadily growing interest, the Sunriver Nature Center and Observatory is getting an expansive makeover.
Construction began Thursday on a long-planned expansion of its observatory and upgrades to the current building.
Sunriver is a designated International Dark Sky site, meaning the night sky is protected for optimal viewing. The new facility will have six more telescopes, different space for exhibits, and hands-on learning experiences. It will also be open year-round.

International Market Centers hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 9 for its new
Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas in the city’s downtown area. The $103.5 million project by IMC’s parent company,
Blackstone, was completed over three years.
“The Expo at WMCLV Las Vegas will be a hub for resurgence, addressing demand for modern convention and trade-show space in downtown Las Vegas,” IMC Chief Executive Officer Bob Maricich said in a statement. “With its state-of-the-art amenities, the Expo not only will attract additional business to downtown Las Vegas but also drive associated job creation for its residents.”
