Coverage of Collective Security Treaty Organization work to improve

MOSCOW, 19 May (BelTA) – Collective Security Treaty Organization member states intend to step up joint efforts to inform the general public about the organization s work. Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas made the statement after a session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 19 May, BelTA has learned.
According to the source, the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council has decided that diplomatic missions of the CSTO member states will step up efforts to cover the organization s work. The CSTO foreign ministers decided to instruct their ambassadors to step up interaction in matters concerning the coverage of the Collective Security Treaty Organization s work. Armenia’s defense ministry said on Tuesday a possible use of force is not ruled out if the Azerbaijani forces don’t leave Armenia’s territory within a reasonable period of time. In case of the lack of peaceful settlement within a reasonable period of time, i.e. if the Azerbaijani troops don’t return to their initial positions without preliminary conditions, Armenia’s armed forces reserve the right to resolve the problem including by means of force, it said in a statement.
The ministry once again stressed that any infringement on the country’s sovereign territories was absolutely inadmissible and Azerbaijani troops must leave Armenia’s territory. The ministry called for settling this matter by peaceful means and hailed international efforts towards it, TASS reports.

Yerevan-Baku tensions over the past week over an alleged Azerbaijani military incursion.
Armenia has accused Azerbaijani troops of crossing several kilometers into its Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces and trying to stake a claim to territory.
Azerbaijan insists that its troops did not cross into Armenia and simply took up positions on the Azerbaijani side of the frontier that were not accessible in winter months.
The border dispute emerged months after the two South Caucasus neighbors ended a six-week war over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The conflict, which claimed some 6,000 lives, ended in November with a Moscow-brokered cease-fire that saw Armenia ceding swaths of territory that ethnic Armenians had controlled for decades.
