Published December 21, 2020 in the journal Nursing Forum, the study examined more than 2,000 nurse suicides that occurred in the United States from 2003 to 2017 and found a distinct shift from using pharmacological poisoning to firearms, beginning in 2014. As part of the longitudinal study, researchers looked at data provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention s National Violent Death Reporting System dataset.
