Minister: Govt could not defer tax requests

Government could not fulfill requests being made to defer taxes– but the tax amnesty being implemented will allow people who had difficulty paying their taxes on time in the pandemic, to do so without penalties and interest. Finance Minister Colm Imbert indicated this in yesterday’s Senate debate of the Finance Bill.
He said requests to defer taxes couldn’t be met as revenue was needed to run T&T and provide pandemic relief grants.
Imbert: Govt to continue subsiding fuel until economic improvement

At this point in time Government will continue subsiding the price of diesel fuel until the economic situation improves.
And, the administration will also change the law to protect the public if petrol dealers engage in cartel arrangements, collusion or price gouging of consumers in liberalisation of the fuel sector ahead.
Local company applies to supply vaccines to Govt

Local company Vary Medical & Scientific Company Limited applied to the Health Ministry in recent weeks to supply vaccines to Government and the ministry responded listing requirements they need to follow.
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh confirmed that in the Senate yesterday, in reply to Opposition Senator Wade Mark’s queries on vaccines.
AG details lawyers’ fees during UNC, PNM terms

This country is among 212 other countries using the Sinopharm and AstraZeneca vaccines which the European Union isn’t allowing for travel entry – but the situation is fluid, ever changing and is the subject of policy discussions around the world.
