Subscriber only A mum s fraudulent behaviour at a popular retail store landed her in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Marnie Flaherty, 27, pleaded guilty to attempted fraud before Magistrate Bevan Manthey and prosecutor Kelvin Boyd. Mr Boyd read the facts of Flaherty s offending, which started at 12.20pm on March 1, 2021. Flaherty, a mother of two, and her co-accused entered Big W in the Stockland shopping complex on the corner of Dawson Highway and Philip Street. Flaherty selected a pair of hair clippers and clothes and paid for them before exiting the store. Flaherty and the co-accused re-entered the store with the purchased items and were observed selecting identical items and walking to the refund service counter.
