Marnie Flaherty, 27, pleaded guilty to attempted fraud before Magistrate Bevan Manthey and prosecutor Kelvin Boyd. Mr Boyd read the facts of Flaherty s offending, which started at 12.20pm on March 1, 2021. Flaherty, a mother of two, and her co-accused entered Big W in the Stockland shopping complex on the corner of Dawson Highway and Philip Street. Flaherty selected a pair of hair clippers and clothes and paid for them before exiting the store. Flaherty and the co-accused re-entered the store with the purchased items and were observed selecting identical items and walking to the refund service counter.
