West Michigan Vaccine Clinic to administer 231,000 doses before closing

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â The West Michigan Vaccine Clinic only has one final day of administering COVID-19 vaccines before it closes for good. The DeVos Place clinic will be open on Friday but will operate with reduced hours from 2 to 6 p.m. by appointment only.
The clinic has been in the process of winding down and remained closed on Wednesday and will be closed again on Thursday. The county is now in the process of transitioning vaccines to other sites.

MICHIGAN, USA Health departments in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Ionia counties announced Friday that they were not issuing orders requiring close contact students to quarantine for the time being.
After consulting with the state health department, local health officials said they were informed that student quarantine was no longer covered by state law.
For now, the decisions rest with each school district, said Teresa Branson, deputy health officer with the Kent County Health Department.

Michigan is averaging less than 3,000 new coronavirus cases per day for the first time in six weeks.
Although it continues to report the worst COVID-19 surge in the nation, Michigan’s daily case average has dropped 60% since it surpassed 7,000 in mid-April, and it’s also seeing declines in hospitalizations and positive test rates.
Health officials are largely pointing to vaccinations as the biggest factor associated with flattening the curve. Other factors include reduced mobility, a recommitment to mitigation strategies and warmer weather moving activities and gatherings outdoors.
