KRA Shocker After Data on Kenyans Who Earn Over Ksh100k Salary KRA Boss James Githii Mburu speaks at a conference in 2019 Twitter The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) faces an uphill task as the curtains draw on the first half of the country s 2020- 2021 fiscal year. A report released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) on December 24 revealed that the taxman since the start of the current financial year had collected revenue totalling Ksh1 trillion translating to Ksh200 billion for the five months leading to November 30. However, only Ksh527 billion of the entire sum was obtained from tax revenues. Of the remainder; domestic borrowing accounted for Ksh 360 billion, external loans Ksh26.2 billion and non-tax revenue topped up the remaining Ksh37 billion.

KRA Loses Ksh 582M Case to Foreign Businessman Times Tower, KRA headquarters in Nairobi File The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has lost a case where it was seeking to collect Ksh 582 million from a Danish businessman based in Narok County.  KRA had filed the suit against Peter Bonde claiming that he did not disclose the source of over Ksh 1 billion deposited in his accounts between 2008 and 2014.  The money was dubbed an undisclosed income which was then subjected to income tax and principal tax with KRA adding penalties and interests to demand Ksh 582 million. KRA also accused him of filing nil returns between 2008 and 2010.
