THIS Was the Most Popular Booze in Iowa in 2020

THIS Was the Most Popular Booze in Iowa in 2020 Oh 2020. you ve been something else. Many Iowans, like folks in other states across the U.S. and entire world, turned to booze to help cope. In fact, the Iowa Alcohol Beverage Division said in 2020 sales increased by about 8.2% over 2019 s totals. This according to a report from KCCI. In the annual report, the IABD said overall liquor sales in Iowa totaled $367 million. During the pandemic, Iowans have continued to turn to familiar liquors. In fact, for yet another year,  Black Velvet Canadian Whiskey is our number one adult beverage of choice. This is as far from a surprise as you can get. In fact, way back in 1999, The Des Moines Register ran a story about the popularity the import whiskey has enjoyed in Iowa. That was

Iowa Liquor Sales Hit Record High in 2020

Iowa Liquor Sales Hit Record High in 2020 So much of what we ve experienced in 2020 has many of us saying I need a drink ,  often, and with inconsistency and confusion prevailing about where we can go to have one and when, it s much simpler (and many would argue, safer) this year to just BYOB and stay home, as indicated by new numbers from the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division. They report, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, that liquor sales totaled $367.3 million during the fiscal year that ended June 30, an increase of 8.2 percent over the previous fiscal year. The even bigger news is that with the current fiscal year that began on July 1, projections are even higher, no doubt due in part to the arrival of the celebratory (or perhaps dreaded) time we call the holidays .  It s good for Iowa s bottom line to have us cooped up with nowhere else to indulge, as the booze industry is generating $133 million in revenue for the state.

Iowa sees record liquor sales amid pandemic

Despite a year marked by COVID-19 restrictions on bars and restaurants, the State of Iowa saw record liquor sales in fiscal year 2020. Liquor sales from the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division to retailers grew to $367.3 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, an “unprecedented” increase of 8.2% over the prior fiscal year, according to the division’s annual report. While liquor sales have generally been rising in the state, officials attributed a particularly large spike in the 2020 fiscal year at least in part to the COVID-19 pandemic. “In (fiscal year 2019), there was a 6% increase, which was a little bit more than what we’ve seen, but this year is definitely larger than recent years,” said Jake Holmes, spokesman for the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
