CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - With coronavirus cases surging, health officials are urging people to limit their holiday gatherings this year.
They say just because you test negative, doesn’t always mean you’re in the clear.
The rapid COVID-19 tests are in high demand at one Cape Girardeau pharmacy.
“Our schedule here at John’s pharmacy is almost completely booked,” Abe Funk said.
Co-owner, Abe Funk said it’s because people want to know if they’re healthy enough to be around family for the holidays.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported 12 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
To date, there have been 6,211 confirmed cases in the county.
There have been 105 deaths.
There are currently 1,494 active cases.
As of Dec. 22, 5,647 people have recovered.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported 90 new COVID-19 cases on Monday.
To date, there have been 6,199 confirmed cases in the county and 105 people have died.
There are 1,490 active COVID-19 cases in the region.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center reported 78 new cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths on Friday, December 18.
The newly reported deaths include:
1 person in their 60s
3 people in their 70s
1 person in their 80s
3 people in their 90s
This brings the total number of cases in the county to 7,057 with 5,437 resolved and 105 deaths.
The seven-day positivity rate in the county is 19.6 percent.

Most local counties are no longer fall under extreme risk under the public health warning issued by the State of Missouri, but do still fall under critical risk.
Under the warning there are three categories for counties that are based on positivity rate along with the number of cases per 100,000 residents.
The categories are extreme risk, with a 7-day positivity rate of 15% or above and a 7-day case rate per 100,000 of 350 or above; critical risk with a 7-day positivity rate of 10-14% and a 7-day case rate per 100,000 at 100-349; and serious risk, with a 7-day positivity rate at 5-9% or above and a 7-day case rate per 100,000 at 10-99. Counties must meet both criteria before falling into the category.
