The signs of labor can differ from one woman to another, and even for the same woman they may change from one pregnancy to the next. Although there s no way to predict how a woman s labor will progress or how long it will last, there are a few common signs of labor. What initiates labor, however, is less clear. We don t really know what mechanisms bring on labor, said Leslie Ludka, a certified nurse midwife and the director of midwifery at Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Mass. Science hasn t figured this out yet.

SAN ANTONIO The city has appointed a new Director of its Metropolitan Health District, completing a months-long national search.
New Metro Health Director Claude Jacob will officially start in his new role on July 6.
The city says Jacob has served as the Chief Public Health Officer at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he oversaw the city s COVID-19 emergency response efforts, among other roles for the city.

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio officials have chosen the new director of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District.
Claude A. Jacob was selected after a national search, city officials announced on Friday.
“I am excited to welcome Claude to San Antonio to serve as the new Director of Metro Health,” said City Manager Erik Walsh in a press release. “I am confident that Claude will provide excellent leadership to Metro Health. He will continue to work to promote health equity and education for our residents. I’d also like to thank Dr. Colleen Bridger for continuing to serve the City during this transition.”
