A trio of hare coursers have been sentenced after they caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a Fowlmere farmer’s crops, while attempting to make off from police.
Jimmy Cole, aged 43, Chase Loveridge, 36, and 20-year-old Levi Cole, were spotted driving a silver Land Rover across a field near Cambridge Road in Fowlmere, at about 12 noon on 24 September last year.
Officers from the force’s Rural Crime Action Team were able to quickly box the car in near the junction with the A505.

Three hare coursers - whose five-seater car was overloaded with three men, three children and three dogs - have been fined £1,000 for damaging a farmer’s crops.
When he was spotted with Chase Loveridge, 36, and Levi Cole, 20, the 43-year-old driver, Jimmy Cole, denied hare coursing and claimed he had driven to Cambridgeshire from Surrey to walk the dog .
They were seen driving a silver Land Rover across a field near Cambridge Road, in Fowlmere, at noon on September 24.

The Neighbourhood Support Team (NST) carried out warrants in Orton Goldhay and March on Monday morning (18 January) where four people were arrested.
The first address to be visited was in Bringhurst, Orton Goldhay, where the team discovered 203 cannabis plants worth up to £170,500.
Ardit Cerriku, 29, of Bringhurst, was arrested and charged with being involved in the production of cannabis. He was remanded to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday) where he pleaded guilty and has been further remanded to be sentenced on a date which is yet to be set.

The Meldreth man charged with a string of firearms offences has been remanded in custody, after appearing at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today.
Arran Ayres – of The Boulevard – is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm without a certificate, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition without a certificate, four counts of possession of a shotgun without a certificate, and possession of criminal property.
The 24-year-old was arrested at the scene as part of a two-day police operation, which saw more than 50 officers swoop into the village on Tuesday. Officers are investigating the alleged handling of stolen goods and possession of illegal firearms.

A Bradford drug driver who failed a roadside test but then refused to provide a specimen for analysis at a police station has been jailed in Cambridge. Richard Taylor, 49, was spotted by an eagle-eyed officer driving a Volkswagen Golf on the A14 westbound where it meets the M11. The officer noticed Taylor due to his manner of driving at just before 1.30pm on November 4. The officer followed Taylor in a marked police car and he was stopped in a lay-by about 15 miles later.
