July 29, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said Wednesday that a new system is being created in the health sector with the Health Facility Card and noted the current programme will promote private sector hospitals and help them provide their services in rural and remote areas. The prime minister directed the federal and provincial governments and the State Life to set up special units for the Health Card Programme to monitor the implementation of the programme and resolve any issues immediately. In this connection, a review meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan on the government s historic initiative in the health sector to provide quality health services to the people through the Health Facility Card. KP minister accused of ignoring private practice of dean July 18, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Minister Taimur Jhagra of ignoring private practice of the dean of Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi. The YDA claimed that Dr Shamsur Rahman was running his private clinic in sheer violation of the Medical Teaching Institution Reforms Act 2015. Under the law, a dean or a medical director, once selected in any Medical Teaching Institution (MTI), was not allowed to run private clinics outside respective institutions. In MTI, certain key position holders, including dean, medical and hospital director are paid heavy stipends up to Rs600,000 in addition to getting a brand new car and other privileges.

‘Indian, S African variants detected in KP’ Top Story June 5, 2021 PESHAWAR: The Indian and South African variants of the novel coronavirus have been detected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial health department confirmed Friday. According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Secretary Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah, the Indian variant of the coronavirus was confirmed in a patient. Meanwhile, two patients who tested positive for the virus were found to be infected with the South African variant. Shah said that all three patients had arrived in Pakistan from the United Arab Emirates a few days ago. “All three infected patients are residents of Peshawar,” Shah said, adding that the samples of 12 more patients had been sent to Islamabad for testing.
