Monericka Semeran, one of the co-editors in chief of The Little Green Newspaper, received the Brodsky Prize for outstanding student journalism. The Union Leader featured an article about Monericka and the prize (click here to read it). We are happy for her and the recognition of her work in the Op-Ed section she so deserves.

The Little Green Newspaper, Central s forum for student expression, visited the 69th Annual New England Scholastic Press Association Conference at Boston University on Friday, May 5, 2017, and was honored with 4 awards. Schools came from all across New England to learn the latest trends and share ideas in school journalism and to compete in the All-New England awards to recognize outstanding publications and individual performances. The Little Green was awarded Class I 2nd Place overall in the All-New England Printed Newspaper category, along with Highest Achievement for Class I, which is for schools with over 1,000 students. This is the second year in a row the Little Green has achieved second place overall in that category. Individuals were also recognized, including Aidan Ryan who was awarded Special Achievement for News Page Design for his layout of the Election 2017 article and Lily O Connell who was awarded the Journalis

Junior Gabriella Leonard was named the NH Association of School Principals Francis Wayland Parker Scholar of the Month for the state of New Hampshire in February. Gabby has found great success in the classroom, in athletics, and in the community. Gabby has lettered in field hockey, ice hockey, Nordic skiing, and lacrosse and she also serves as captain of the varsity lacrosse team. Outside of athletics, Gabby is involved in the communities of Central and greater Manchester. She is the President-elect of Life of an Athlete, an active Key Club member, a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, a writer for The Little Green Newspaper, and has served as Treasurer of the Band. Gabby values community service and has participated in a variety of activities from organizing a bicycle drive for elementary school students, to raking leaves for elderly residents, to volunteering with the Special Olympics.
