One person was killed and 94 others were injured in traffic accidents caused by heavy snowfall in the country s northeast, authorities said Tuesday.
As of 6 a.m., 53 accidents were reported on snow-covered roads, according to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH), after Gangwon Province received 10-20 centimeters of snow inland and up to 77.6 cm in the mountains.
The snowfall, which started Monday morning, is expected to continue until Tuesday afternoon, according to local weather authorities.

Hundreds of cars were trapped on some parts of a highway along the east coast Monday as heavy snowfall caused a traffic gridlock, the road authority said.
Gangwon Province received about 10 centimeters of snowfall earlier in the day, which caused many cars returning from a three-day holiday to be stuck on the snow-covered Donghae Expressway, according to Korea Expressway Corp. (KEC) s regional office.
