City of Columbus announces summer business hours

Columbus, IN, USA / MOJO 102.9 Jun 1, 2021 | 4:37 AM COLUMBUS, Ind. – Most city of Columbus facilities are now open to the public with masks recommended but not required. Beginning today, June 1, some city departments are adjusting business hours for the summer. All departments located at Columbus City Hall will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Normal hours will continue for all Columbus Parks and Recreation Department facilities, excluding the Commons playground. Transit offices are closing at 4 p.m., but the phone is answered through 5 p.m. Offices at Columbus City Utilities close daily at 4 p.m. during summer hours, but the drive-through payment window remains open and phones are being operated until 5 p.m.

Columbus firefighters came to the rescue for a few very lucky duckies who were just trying to stay afloat after getting stuck in a car wash s floor drain on Saturday morning.  An employee at Dirt Buster Car Wash, located on Johnson Boulevard, spotted a mother duck and two of her ducklings near a floor drain that spans the entire length of the car wash.

Courtesy-CFD FB page COLUMBUS, Ind. – There is no truth to the rumor that the Columbus Fire Department (CFD) is going to be renamed the Columbus Fire and Duckling Rescue Department. Firefighters from Fire Station #5 responded to Dirtbuster Car Wash, just off of Jonathan Moore Pike, on Saturday at around 7 a.m., after receiving a report of several ducklings stuck inside the business. When crews arrived they found a mother duck and two ducklings near a floor drain that spans the entire length of the car wash. Additional baby ducks were then discovered that had entered the floor drain near the area that the mother duck and the first two ducklings were found.

Columbus Fire Dept Rescues Ducklings

COLUMBUS, Ind. A couple little ducklings lost their way while following their mother. Four ducklings ended up stuck in Dirt Buster Car Wash’s floor drain. Columbus Firefighters were called to the car wash on 67 Johnson Blvd. An employee told them a mother duck and two ducklings were found near a floor drain, and that some of the ducklings had gone into the drain. They were able to get the ducklings out, and they were checked out by Columbus Animal Care Services. All ducklings are now with their mother and in a nearby pond. This is the third duckling rescue in the past two weeks for the fire department.

CSA-New Tech seniors named Lilly Scholars Two Columbus Signature Academy New Tech seniors are the recipients of the 2021 Lily Endowment Community Scholarships for Bartholomew County The Heritage Fund  The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County announced that Hayley Barr and Jadi Miller were the recipients in a news release Friday. The scholarship program, which is in its 24th year, is administered statewide by Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. and locally by the Heritage Fund. Statewide, 143 scholarships were awarded to Indiana students to pursue four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis that lead to a baccalaureate degree at an accredited public or private nonprofit college or university in Indiana, the release stated. Barr and Miller will receive full tuition for four years to the Indiana college of their choice and a $900 annual stipend for required books and equipment.”
