Work on first stage of Sicamous to Armstrong rail trail to start this year | iNFOnews

Image Credit: FACEBOOK/Shuswap Trails February 02, 2021 - 6:30 AM Construction of a two-kilometre section of a proposed rail trail linking Sicamous to Armstrong could start this summer with plans afoot to create a short piece of the trail in Enderby. The Shuswap-North Okanagan Rail Trail, which would connect Sicamous to Armstrong via a disused rail line, is planning on creating a test section of the trail which would run through Enderby and the Splatsin First Nation. The Shuswap Trail Alliance executive director Phil McIntyre-Paul said if all goes to plan the small section of the trail could be completed by the fall.

Developer moving ahead on West Beach

A B.C. businessman who purchased financially troubled West Beach in the North Shuswap said he has a solid business plan to develop the property. But Greg Darroch said he wants to meet with community members and government officials over the coming months before publicly unveiling plans. I want to put together a proposal that allays the concerns of the community and environment, he said Wednesday. That s a really sensitive site. A numbered company controlled by Darroch purchased the property from a mortgage firm this month for $17.9-million. The property, operated as Cottonwood Campground for decades, was purchased by Kamloops developer Mike Rink a few years ago.
