Global Eagle is open to testing a “hybrid, multi-vendor environment” that would see its satellite-based connectivity paired with a nextgen air-to-ground (ATG) solution. During a wide-ranging interview with Runway Girl Network this spring, Global Eagle CEO Josh Marks suggested that, as “the last open architecture pipe in IFC” one that hasn’t committed billions of dollars to building a global network Global Eagle has the flexibility to deploy new technologies such as a regional hybrid network. He said: We will have a lot of opportunities to test these technologies to see how they cover regional flights and work with different partners to find the right antenna modem and ground infrastructure to support that.

Gogo Business Aviation progresses with 5G ATG; eyes hybrid ATG/LEO -

Gogo Business Aviation is making strong progress towards meeting its goal of bringing 5G air-to-ground (ATG) inflight connectivity to market in 2022. The company, which is executing on a pure-play BizAv connectivity strategy in the US following Intelsat’s acquisition of Gogo Commercial Aviation, also believes it will be well-positioned to accommodate hybrid ATG-LEO satellite solutions in the future. Jet Edge to upgrade entire fleet to Gogo s AVANCE L5 connectivity

Yuvan Kumar 19th April 2021, 5:29 Jet Edge announced a new partnership with Gogo Business Aviation, which will upgrade Jet Edge’s AdvantEdge and managed super-mid and large cabin fleet to AVANCE L5, Gogo’s most popular connectivity system. Bill Papariella, CEO of Jet Edge said: “The AVANCE L5 system is truly a game changer for connectivity in the air.” The operator said this is the first-ever fleet to be entirely equipped with Gogo AVANCE L5.
