No oxygen shortage in Coimbatore: Minister | Coimbatore News

COIMBATORE: Health minister M Subramaniam on Saturday said that there is no oxygen shortage in the district. “Coimbatore has enough oxygen compared to other districts. ESI Hospital and CMCH have 100-litre and 200-litre plants. We are advising private hospitals to use oxygen judiciously and reduce consumption, learning from government hospitals,” he said. ESI Hospital found that oxygen saturation increases from 91 to 95 when Covid patients are in the prone position, thus reducing the need to give them more oxygen, the minister said. He met representatives of private hospitals and visited Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH), in between inspecting ESI and CMCH to understand oxygen requirements.

Industries urged to vaccinate all workers aged above 45 Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA The State government has urged all industries to ensure that workers and staff aged 45 and above are vaccinated in the next two to three weeks, to control the spread of COVID-19. Senior officials of Industries and MSME Departments had a meeting with industry associations on Wednesday. According to Coimbatore District Small Industries’ Association president M.V. Ramesh Babu, and Southern India Mills’ Association secretary general K. Selvaraju, who took part in the meeting, the government has said that if an industry had more than 100 workers, vaccination camps could be organised on the industry premises. If larger units have in-house medical centres, these can be used as vaccination hubs so that nearby industries also benefit.

At a function in Coimbatore’s Codissia Trade Fair Complex, the PM also laid the foundation stone for the modernization of lower Bhavani project. He inaugurated a slew of infrastructure and housing projects for western and southern regions. They included integrated command control centres in nine smart cities and a 5MW solar power plant in Tuticorin.
