Rangers Re-Sign Jimmy Herget, Designate Scott Heineman

Rangers Re-Sign Jimmy Herget, Designate Scott Heineman The Rangers announced that they have re-signed right-hander Scott Heineman for assignment in a corresponding move. Its 40-man roster remains at capacity. The Rangers non-tendered Herget last week, but the 27-year-old wasn’t away from the organization for long. Herget, whom the Rangers claimed via waivers from the Reds last winter, threw 19 2/3 innings in Texas in 2020 and posted an impressive 3.20 ERA. There were some red flags, however, including a 5.23 FIP and a poor strikeout/walk ratio (7.78 K/9, 6.41 BB/9). But Herget does boast a very good minor league track record. He saw extensive action in Triple-A ball in three different seasons as a member of the Cincinnati organization and combined for a 3.17 ERA with 9.6 K/9 against 3.9 BB/9 over 150 frames.

Facebook expands its massive Fort Worth data center, expects to invest $1 5 billion [Fort Worth Star-Telegram]

Facebook expands its massive Fort Worth data center, expects to invest $1.5 billion [Fort Worth Star-Telegram] Dec. 9 FORT WORTH Facebook is expanding its massive data center in far north Fort Worth once again, bringing the total to more than 2.6 million square feet and $1.5 billion in investment at the campus. About 150 people work at the data center, which stores and processes posts from the social media site. Facebook announced plans to add about 170,000 square feet to the center this week with construction starting immediately. It should be finished in 2022. The addition is part of the social media giant’s global data center infrastructure and will serve as what Facebook calls “cold storage,” the company said in a statement. Like other data centers on the campus, it will store posts and photos from the site that are older or that users accesses less often.
