HOUSTON, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) An official from Fort Bend County in the U.S. state of Texas on Wednesday elevated COVID-19 risk level to its highest due to rising cases and hospitalizations.
During a press briefing, County Judge KP George upgraded the level from orange to red, signifying a high community risk. However, he did not mandate a stay-at-home order for residents. The county was previously in the red level in July. At this point, this is the best way to communicate with our residents, George said.
The county has over 25,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases and about one fifth of them were added within the last two weeks, according to the official figures. ICU patients have increased at an alarming rate, said George.
