Dedication ceremony to honor Nipper Wednesday

The ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. at the Bell County Expo Center, 301 W. Loop 121. Nipper’s family, as well as law enforcement and local officials, will attend the ceremony, DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko said. Nipper, 63, was killed in a fiery Nov. 4, 2017, crash on Interstate 35 in Temple as he was conducting a traffic stop. A truck driven by Scott Douglas Taylor of Marble Falls struck the rear of Nipper’s DPS vehicle while it was parked on the southbound shoulder of the highway. The mangled DPS vehicle was ablaze when Temple Fire & Rescue crews arrived at the crash site near Midway Road.

SHELTER: WARMING STATIONS AROUND CENTRAL TEXAS

Feb 16, 2021 COPPERAS COVE (Updated 2/15 @ 11:30am) -The City of Copperas Cove announced Sunday that they will open a warming center to offer temporary relief for citizens who may be in need due to the extreme inclement weather and prolonged freezing conditions. The warming center will be located at Copperas Cove Public Library, 501 S. Main Street. The facility will open Sunday, February 14th, beginning at 6pm and remain open until the need is no longer necessary. The warming center will be open as a temporary shelter from the severe weather. The city is asking citizens who plan to use the warming station to consider bring the following:
