Second accused in murder of Lenasia teacher Naadira Vanker abandons bail bid

He has appeared in court and abandoned his bail application. He and his co-accused will return to court on 23 June.  The second accused in the murder of a Lenasia teacher has appeared in court and abandoned his bail bid, the Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority says. The second accused is Thabo Mambila. He also didn t apply for bail, NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane told News24 on Thursday morning. Mambila was arrested in May by Gauteng police, but was under police guard in a hospital after being assaulted, allegedly by members of the public. Police intervened as the suspect was being assaulted by the community at Phumlamqashi, south of Lenasia. He was taken to hospital under police guard, Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said in a previous statement.

Man arrested for murder of missing Lenasia woman abandons bail bid

Lucky Mshubi appeared in the Lenasia Magistrate s Court on Friday. He will remain in custody until his next appearance in June. Lucky Mshubi, the man arrested for the murder of a missing Lenasia woman, will not apply for bail. Mshubi will remain in custody after he indicated to the court that he does not wish to apply for bail and opted to conduct his own defence, Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said in a statement on Friday. This comes after Mshubi, 36, appeared in the Lenasia Magistrate s Court on charges of murder, housebreaking with intent to rob, robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, and defeating the ends of justice.
