Child porn suspect had 250,000 secret photos of people on his phone, court hears

Detective Garda Colm Grogan said he arrested the accused at 4.47pm yesterday at his home and he replied: “Can we not do this tomorrow?” He was taken to the Bridewell garda station, where he made no reply to any of the charges after caution. Objecting to bail, he said the accused came to the attention of the gardai on a date in December 2019, when a detective sergeant allegedly observed Mr Boyle attempting to take a photograph of a personal nature of a young female travelling on the Luas at Harcourt Street. When this was investigated, a number of electronic devices were seized from the accused and they allegedly contained 250,000 images of persons taken without their consent. These included a number of women and children in places of employment and on public transport.

Paul Boyle (43) of Sandyford View, Blackglen Road, Dublin 18, was initially arrested after a garda allegedly spotted him attempting to take a “personal” photograph of a young woman on the Luas in Dublin. A subsequent investigation and search of his devices revealed about a quarter of a million photographs which appeared to have been taken in workplaces and on public transport without the knowledge of the subjects, the court heard.

Man appears in court over offensive sexual conduct Updated / Friday, 12 Mar 2021 20:30 The man is alleged to have taken pictures of a personal nature of women and children in public places (File pic: RollingNews.ie) Crime Correspondent A 43-year-old man has appeared in court in Dublin after gardaí allegedly discovered more than 250,000 images of people on his devices that were taken without consent.  Paul Boyle, with an address at Sandyford View, Blackglen Road, Dublin is charged with 23 offences including multiple counts of harassment and offensive sexual conduct.  Originally from Scotland, Mr Boyle faces 12 charges of harassment, nine charges of offensive conduct of a sexual nature and two charges of possession of child pornography - a text and video file, on dates in 2019 and 2020.
