CHENNAI: Jack Dorsey, CEO of social media giant Twitter, has donated $15 million (around Rs 110 crore) in his personal capacity to support relief efforts in India’s ongoing Covid-19 second wave. Dorsey tweeted on Monday that the $15 million for India will go to three NGOs- Care ($10 million), Aid India ($2.5 million) and Sewa International ($2.5 million) for various relief work including emergency medical equipment, setting up temporary Covid care centres and other activities. The contribution comes from Dorsey’s Start Small initiative, a fund he launched in April last year, setting aside around $1 billion of his equity from fintech startup Square (almost 28% of his wealth) to tackle Covid-19 globally.
