DALLAS â The video began with blurred street lights beneath an evening sky. Sounds of police sirens, TV news reports and protest chants of âI canât breatheâ followed, setting the stage for an urgently worded statement attributed to the Dallas Cowboys: âOur hearts are burning with anger and sadness. Racism and hatred have to stop. We have to come together to change the system.â
On June 5, the Cowboys published this two-minute video, which featured archived testimonials from players and community leaders, on social media and their website. The team named the video âProtest to Progress,â calling it the âfirst in a series that will be released by the Dallas Cowboys.â

A documentary about the lack of fresh produce in Dallas neighborhoods premieres virtually this week, part of an effort to show how organizations have worked to solve an issue that has grown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shiftsmart initiative is ranked No. 1 under the Not-for-Profit category and No. 28 in the 2021 World s Top 50 Most Innovative Companies list.
The list honors the businesses that have not only found a way to be resilient in the past year, but also turned those challenges into impact-making processes. These companies did more than survive; they thrived making an impact on their industries and culture as a whole. This year s MIC list features 463 businesses from 29 countries.

NBA player Harrison Barnes is giving Dallas $30,000 to help house people experiencing homelessness. The gift will be used by the the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) Fund at the Communities Foundation of Texas to help about two dozen people gain permanent housing.
Barnes is a forward for the Sacramento Kings, but he played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2016 until he was traded to the Kings in 2019. He said in a statement that he and his wife were moved to make their donation after watching last month s winter storm ravage Dallas.

D CEO and Communities Foundation of Texas are proud to honor nonprofit professionals and organizations making a positive impact in our community, and the corporate businesses and executives who support them, through our 2021 Nonprofit and Corporate Citizenship Awards.
Now in its fourth year, the program celebrates the efforts of local nonprofit volunteers and organizations as well as the corporations that provide support through financial donations, executive who volunteer on nonprofit boards, in-kind services, and sponsorships.
