It was hosted virtually from the Gerdin Business Building on Iowa State’s campus. Top 25 Most Influential Nonprofits in 2021 announced

Top 25 Most Influential Nonprofits in 2021 announced BY BUSINESS RECORD STAFF   The United Way of Central Iowa has been voted by Business Record readers as the most influential nonprofit organization in Greater Des Moines.   The United Way of Central Iowa topped the first-ever list of Top 25 Most Influential Nonprofits, which appears in the 2021 Book of Lists.   The online survey of Business Record readers, which was conducted in the summer of 2020, asked participants which nonprofit they believe is the most influential and asked them to pick nine other nonprofits that they also perceived to be influential.   The votes were tallied and IP addresses were analyzed, much as we do for Best of Des Moines, to remove suspicious voting and obvious attempts to fraudulently influence rankings.

The pandemic has forced significant changes in our lives, from how we spend time with family to how we work, shop and play. The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines has released a video that shares how we’ve learned new ways to be together and adapted to the challenges we’ve faced. With a theme of “We Rise Together,” the video shows how the nonprofit community has come together in 2020 to meet the needs of those who have been most affected by the pandemic and how, as a community, we have risen together to meet that challenge.
