CONNECTICUT Cheetos are about to be made in Connecticut for the first time with the brand s parent company announcing a stronger presence in the state.
Gov. Ned Lamont and officials in Killingly Wednesday said that Frito-Lay is undertaking a $235 million expansion project at its Killingly manufacturing site in a plan that includes the creation of 120 new jobs. The deal includes some state incentives.
Frito-Lay is a division of PepsiCo.

Governor Ned Lamont and executives of WellSpark Health yesterday held a news conference at the company’s headquarters in Farmington, where they announced plans for the company to rapidly grow its operations at the location, including the creation of 287 new jobs over the next seven years.

Local and state leaders mostly praised legislation passed by the state Senate on Monday that would allow for tax breaks for Connecticut data centers.
H.B. 6514, An Act Concerning Incentives for Qualified Data Centers to Locate in the State, is important to eastern Connecticut, a potential landing spot for data centers. During a public hearing last week, Randy Collins from the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities said he’s had conversations with Groton, Montville and Norwich about considering such facilities in Connecticut.
Sen. Cathy Osten, D-Sprague, said an interested developer has talked to Norwich, Groton, Montville and Ledyard officials. She said the eastern Connecticut delegation and several others met with state Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman to ensure the towns weren’t left out of a deal.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced a significant shift in his vaccine rollout plan Monday, moving forward with vaccinations by age group rather than prioritizing people based on underlying health conditions or frontline occupations. “I’m going to focus on the old business motto, KISS: Keep it simple, stupid,” he said of the new plan, which he and his administration argued would mean a faster rate of vaccination statewide.
