Rail PSU invites private players to be part of roll-on roll-off service

Railway PSU DFCCIL has floated a tender inviting private players to be part of the roll-off, roll-on service between Palanpur in Gujarat and Rewari in Haryana on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. The request for proposal (RFP) issued by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) on February 16 states that the winning bidder will have the sole rights to ferry fully-loaded trucks on trains on the 714-km stretch for a period of one year. It will involve 900 trips, each with 45 loaded trucks, on the newly-opened stretch of the WDFC, the document said. Two rakes consisting of 45 BRN wagons each, modified/customised and made suitable by the Indian Railways for loading and unloading of trucks on/from each of the wagons as Roll On Roll Off (RO-RO) service. Further Facilities like entry/exit ramps, connectivity from concerned traffic yard to a motorable road and lighting in concerned traffic yard would be provided by the DFCCIL, the document says.

Total planned capital expenditure for Railways of over Rs 2 lakh crore is highest ever ANI | Updated: Feb 01, 2021 21:27 IST New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): Indian Railways now has the highest ever total planned capital expenditure of Rs. 2,15,058 crore this year with Rs 7,500 crore from internal resources, Rs 1,00,258 crore from extra-budgetary resources and Rs 1,07,100 crore for capital expenditure in the General Budget. In a press release, the Ministry of Railways on Monday stated, Indian Railways received a record outlay of Rs 1,10,055 crore, of which Rs 1,07,100 crore is for capital expenditure in the Union Budget 2021-22 presented in the Parliament today. The Gross Budgetary allocation is Rs. 37,050 crores (53 per cent) higher than the previous budget of 2020-21. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a remarkable vindication of the progress being made being undertaken infrastructure projects in Indian Railways.

(Facebook) With two back to back inaugurations of the 351 km Khurja-Bhaupur section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and 306 km Rewari-Madar section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor within a gap of 10 days, the railways is now eyeing to complete most of the sections of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) this year, officials said on Sunday. A railway ministry official said that work on the 335-km long Madar-Palanpur section of the WDFC is in full swing and it will be ready by March 2021.
