On the Slow Coach Fifteen years in the making, only 650 km of the dedicated freight corridor has opened. Meeting the 3,381-km target by June 2022 appears a distant dream Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two sections of dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) in quick succession in December 2020 and January 2021. Immediately after, videos of kilometres long double-stack container trains chugging on the new lines emerged on social media handles of Ministry of Railways and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal. The trains hit top speed of 93 km per hour and average speed of 67 km per hour as against 23 km per hour clocked by a normal goods train in India.

Telecom Major HFCL Wins Order Worth Rs 221 Crore From Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation For Kanpur, Agra Metro Projects

The telecommunication work for the metro projects will be completed in the next 33 months. Telecom equipment major HFCL has won a Rs 221 crore order from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation for setting up telecommunication systems for the Kanpur and Agra metro projects. According to the order details, HFCL will set up the telecommunication systems for 32.4 km (corridors one and two) of Kanpur Metro and 14 km (corridor one) of Agra Metro projects. The telecommunication system work for the metro projects will be completed in the next 33 months. Part of the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, the Agra Metro network will connect major tourist attractions such as  Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Sikandra with the city s other main modes of transport such as the railway station and bus stands. The construction of the Agra Metro project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2020.
