MCO in Sibu extended to Feb 14 — Uggah

KUCHING (Jan 27): The Movement Control Order (MCO) scheduled to end this Friday in Sibu has been extended to Feb 14, said Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas. He said the decision was made following the high number of positive Covid-19 cases in Sarawak and the declining number of green areas. Apart from that, he said the state government also decided to extend the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in other parts of Sarawak until Feb 14. “As of today, only 11 of the 40 districts in Sarawak have a green status. This shows that the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak is not yet under control, he told a press conference here today.

Pix for representational purpose only. -Bernama SIBU: Enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) is necessary now in Sibu to avoid a worse situation of the Covid-19 infection which has reached a very worrying level. Sarawak Public Health and Housing Assistant Minister, Dr Annuar Rapaee said if the MCO was not implemented now, the situation could deteriorate until it became uncontrollable. “We cannot afford to wait until the number of cases increases or drops. The time (for MCO implementation) is now,” he said in an interview via Zoom with Bernama and RTM, here, today. He called on residents in Sibu Division covering the districts of Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit to comply with the MCO to curb the spread of Covid-19 during the order period.

Six districts in Sarawak placed under CMCO, Jan 13-26

KUCHING (Jan 11): The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) has decided to place six districts under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from Jan 13 to Jan 26, after the state recorded 153 new Covid-19 cases today. Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the CMCO would be enforced in Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sibu, Sarikei and Miri districts.
