UAE: Historic document translated into Braille, other languages by people of determination

300 copies of the Human Fraternity Document were printed to make it accessible to people of determination on a global scale.
The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination has translated the Human Fraternity Document into Arabic, English, and Italian Braille as well as in Arabic sign languages, on the occasion of the International Day of Human Fraternity which is being celebrated as an annual event on February 4, starting this year.

Today marks the very first International Day of Human Fraternity. I’m pleased to join this celebration, established by the United Nations, to promote tolerance, peaceful coexistence and interfaith dialogue between communities.
I’d like to thank His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, for launching this initiative.
A day of human fraternity is needed today more than ever, as the world battles the COVID pandemic.
Today reminds us that the only way out of this global crisis is through greater fraternity – and solidarity – between peoples.

On the occasion of the International Day of Human Fraternity, we reminisce with fondness the historic moment two years ago when the first ever papal visit to the Arabian Peninsula was made. The trip also involved the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together. After signing it, Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Mosque in Egypt, together announced “the adoption of a culture of dialogue as the path; mutual co-operation as the code of conduct; reciprocal understanding as the method and standard .
They exhorted world leaders to spread the culture of tolerance and of living together in peace; to intervene at the earliest opportunity to stop the shedding of innocent blood and bring an end to wars, conflicts, environmental decay and the moral and cultural decline that the world is presently experiencing . NEW YORK World Jewish Congress (WJC) President Ronald S. Lauder and Jewish Council of the Emirates (JCE) President Ross Kriel join global leaders in marking the inaugural International Day of Human Fraternity, designated by the United Nations as February 4.
Commenting on the significance of the occasion, WJC President Ronald S. Lauder said, “The International Day of Human Fraternity embodies the hope for the future that lies ahead, where there is more love than hate, more peace than war, more brotherhood and sisterhood than sectarian strife. ABU DHABI, UAE, Feb. 4, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity held its annual award ceremony today with messages of congratulations conveyed to the 2021 honorees by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Dr Ahmed Al-Tayeb – the 2019 honorees.
Recognized for their respective efforts to advocate for peaceful resolution to conflict and advocacy of values outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity, both UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Moroccan-French activist, Latifa Ibn Ziaten, were presented as the two honorees of the 2021 award.
