In order to create new job opportunities for Panamanians, the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) issued Resolution ADM No. 017-2021 of February 24, 2021, which grants a discount incentive to shipping companies of up to fifty percent (50%) on the current rate for technical documentation services for foreign seafarers who work on board ships with Panamanian .

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) said it would assist the Nigerian Navy with accreditation of professional courses at its training institutes.
The Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh said this in a statement in Lagos on Wednesday.
Jamoh, while receiving the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Kamarudeen Lawal, said the agency would also facilitate the attainment of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) status for the Nigerian Navy’s training institutes.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has pledged its support for the accreditation of professional courses offered by the Nigerian Navy as well as facilitating the attainment of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) status for the Nigerian Navy’s training institutes.
Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, disclosed these in Lagos when the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Kamarudeen Lawal, visited the Agency’s headquarters.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has said it will assist in the accreditation of professional courses offered by the Nigerian Navy.
The agency said it would also facilitate the attainment of International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers’ status for the Nigerian Navy’s training institutes.
According to a statement by the agency on Wednesday, the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, stated these on Tuesday in Lagos, when the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Training Command, Rear Admiral Kamarudeen Lawal, visited NIMASA’s headquarters.
Jamoh spoke in response to requests by Lawal, who said collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA was not only required for success of the country’s maritime goals, but also inevitable.

Jamaica has pledged to “offer leadership, commitment and strategic focus” by continuing its role as a Council member of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) – the United Nations specialised agency responsible for the safety, security and pollution control of the global shipping industry.
Announcing Jamaica’s candidature for re-election to Category C of the IMO Council for 2022-2023, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said: “Jamaica will continue to offer leadership, commitment and strategic focus as an IMO Council member. It is of utmost importance that maritime concerns of particular importance to the Caribbean, Small Island Developing States, and other vulnerable countries, particularly the Least Developed Countries, be fully aired and addressed in the IMO.
