Dubai: Oman on Tuesday registered only 70 new cases of COVID-19, marking a drastic fall in its daily reported infections. The Ministry of Health confirmed two more deaths in the Sultanate. This brings the total infections in the country to 128,633 and total fatalities to 1,497.
An additional 174 new recoveries were also reported over the past 24 hours, pushing the Sultanate’s total recoveries to 121,356. The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing instructions issued by the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling COVID-19.
Qatar
The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday confirmed the detection of 206 cases, bringing the total infections in Qatar to 143,428.
Dr. Mohammed Al Abdul Ali, the ministry’s spokesperson, denied the circulating rumours.
In a tweet, the spokesman said: “No cases of the new mutant coronavirus have so far been detected in the Kingdom. Studies continue to examine the genetic sequence of the virus.”
He urged everyone to contact the ministry for any inquiry, avoid circulating rumours and to obtain accurate information from official sources only.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, Minister of Health, said that the mutated strain of coronavirus is not worse than COVID-19, and the vaccine is effective against it.
“Studies are underway about the new variant of the virus and the Kingdom is closely following developments with regard to it. The Saudi leadership is keen to take all precautionary measures and prevent travel until the nature of the mutated strain of the virus is studied and its impact assessed,” he said.
Oman
The Sultanate today confirmed the detection of 264 new coronavirus cases and one fatality, bringing the country’s total infections to 127,931 and death toll to 1,489. Meanwhile, 171 patients have fully recovered, pushing total recoveries to 119,745, according to the latest update by the Ministry of Health.
The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing protocols and precautionary measures in place to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kuwait
Kuwait today reported 230 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of confirmed infections to 148,209. One fatality was reported over the past 24 hours, raising total deaths to 922, the Ministry of Health said in its latest update.
