RIYADH The undersecretaries of the ministries of health of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries held their 12th meeting to discuss the latest developments with regard to the coronavirus pandemic.
The meeting, which was held virtually, was based on the decision of the emergency meeting of health ministers in the GCC countries, which was held last March.
The meeting reviewed all the developments related to COVID-19 and highlighted the new genetic mutation of the virus and the measures that have been taken by the GCC countries, as well as the proposals submitted for the upcoming period.

Saudi Arabia reports 181 New Confirmed COVID-19 Cases, 160 Recoveries
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health announced in a statement on Tuesday that 181 new confirmed cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been reported in the Kingdom.
The Health Ministry confirmed the daily reported number brings the total number to 361,359, including 2,971 active cases undergoing treatment.
“There are 404 critical cases, while the health condition of the rest is stable,” the statement added.
“Eight new deaths have been reported; putting the tally of fatalities, at 6,139,”
Meanwhile, as many as 160 cases have recovered, raising recoveries’ toll to 352,249.
On the other hand, 39,610 new laboratory tests were conducted, in the last 24-hour, across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Kuwait
Kuwait today reported 298 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of confirmed infections to 148,507. One fatality was reported over the past 24 hours, raising total deaths to 923, the Ministry of Health said in its latest update.
An additional 214 patients have fully recovered, pushing total recoveries to 144,356.
The active cases have now touched 3,228, including 53 critical cases under intensive care.
Oman
The Sultanate today confirmed the detection of 212 new coronavirus cases and one fatality, bringing the country’s total infections to 128,143 and death toll to 1,490. A further 200 patients have fully recovered, pushing total recoveries to 119,945, according to the latest update by the Ministry of Health.
