Saskatchewan producers branded as environmental stewardship champs

Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association (SSGA) has announced it has secured $840,000 in additional funding from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) to continue working with landowners to protect Greater Sage-Grouse critical habitat in Saskatchewan. ECCC s Species at Risk Partnership on Agricultural Lands (SARPAL) fund supports projects that are committed to engaging the agricultural sector to preserve key wildlife habitats today and in the future. SSGA President Kelcy Elford explains, We are building on the success of SARPAL s first five years. This second iteration of funding ensures that we can forge ahead with the innovative work we are doing with Grasslands National Park (GNP).

Share this article Share this article OTTAWA, ON, Jan. 29, 2021 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, announced the reappointment of Lonny McKague as Commissioner of the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) for a three-year term effective February 13, 2021. Mr. McKague was first appointed as Commissioner of the CGC in 2017 and his forty years of experience as a primary producer has provided him with knowledge of current social and economic issues facing producers and their businesses. In his role as Commissioner, together with farmers, exporters and technical experts, he has represented the Government of Canada in international trade missions with key customers of Canadian grain.
