After a very long journey, Jerry has gone home to our Lord. Born March 22, 1936, in Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Jerry grew up and attended schools in Casper, Wyoming, joined the USAF in 1954, where he flew missions as a flight engineer to Korea and Vietnam earning the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1969. Retiring from the 84th ATS at Travis AFB in 1974.
Jerry began employment at the Benicia Exxon Refinery, retiring after 20 years.
Jerry enjoyed motorcycling, the 49ers, walking, hiking, tennis, golf, snow and water skiing, traveling and reading.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; children, Mark, Kim (Jose), and Matt (Victoria); grandchildren, Tosh, Anthony, Olivia, Madison and Riley.
Cost-benefit analysis on Mare Island cemetery gets green light
The action was triggered with the veto override of the National Defense Authorization Act.
Provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2021, which were authored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Mike Thompson, authorize Veterans Affairs to begin the study.
The department has six months to complete the analysis.

Teruo Ted Miyagishima
Teruo Ted Miyagishima, retired Major in the U.S. Army, passed away peacefully Dec. 13, 2020. Ted was born April 10, 1919, in Roy, Utah.
He served in France and Italy with the 442nd “Go for Broke” Infantry Regiment during WWII. As a career military serviceman in Army Intelligence, he served in various posts in New York, Virginia, Maryland and Georgia, as well as in Korea and Japan.
He married Tsuyako Grace Miyagishima of Lompoc, California, on July 10, 1949. Their son James was born in 1953.
During his time in the military, he received two degrees from the University of Maryland, a BS in Military Science and a BA in History. Retiring from the military after 21 years of service in 1965, he went into teaching fifth grade at Allen School in San Jose, California. He retired from his second career in 1984. MARE ISLAND The Mare Island Naval Cemetery – the oldest naval cemetery on the West Coast – for the first time Saturday was part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America program.
About 50 people came out to place wreaths on the graves of some 1,000 soldiers buried at the cemetery, the recipient of a recent cleanup campaign that many hope will lead to better oversight in the future.
