(Photo via Horizon Health Network) The Sackville Memorial Hospital will eliminate overnight service at its Emergency Department every weekend this Summer, as a result of New Brunswick’s ongoing nursing shortage. Horizon Health Network announced that the temporary closures will occur every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 a.m. The changes will begin on June 10 and will continue through to September, with no date set for a return to full service. The facility will continue to offer around-the-clock service from 8 a.m. Monday until 4 p.m. Friday. As a result, those who need care will be forced to travel to another hospital, while all ambulances will be diverted.
