Indian American husband and wife business owners in Gilroy, California, March 4 had their Alcoholic Beverage Control licenses revoked following a 2020 investigation that revealed human trafficking and slavery. According to reports, Amerjit and Balwinder Mann, both 66, locked a man in their liquor store, where he worked 15-hour shifts seven days a week, slept in a storage room, bathed in a mop bucket and was never paid, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney s Office. The Manns were arrested in November of 2020. The ABC March 4 revoked the liquor license at M and M Liquor and Gavilan Market, reports said. In addition to the labor human trafficking charges, the Manns face multiple Penal Code violations, including wage theft, conspiracy, witness intimidation and failing to maintain workers compensation insurance, the reports noted.

Bay Area California Man Arraigned for Alleged Auto Insurance Fraud and Forgery, California Department of Insurance Reports Published: Thursday, 04 March 2021 14:31 March 4, 2021 - SAN JOSE, Calif.  - Steven Gargiulo, 30, of San Jose, was arraigned yesterday on multiple felony counts of insurance fraud and forgery after allegedly providing an altered auto repair receipt and bank statement to his insurance company in an attempt to receive an inflated insurance payout. On June 12, 2020, Gargiulo reported to his insurance company that in February 2020 his 2017 BMW 650i had been hit and damaged while parked and unattended. Gargiulo took his vehicle to a body shop in Santa Clara where he was initially given a repair estimate of $2,237. However, Gargiulo said he would pay primarily in cash and out-of-pocket, which brought his repair estimate down to $1,200.
