It’s an ongoing Bay Area problem, and street sideshows are seemingly getting worse.
Antioch officials say taking and towing the offender’s vehicle, coupled with proactive police work is making a difference. I don’t know why my city was on that list. But they’re gonna regret being on the list, said Antioch Mayor Lamar Thorpe, alluding to the revelers who took part in the sideshow.
He said his police department towed 21 cars from Saturday’s defiant gathering near West 10th Street & Auto Center Drive.

SJPD seeks public s help in solving string of violent crimes

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose police investigators are asking for the public’s help in solving several violent crimes Wednesday.
Warm weather and a Cinco de Mayo celebration ended with multiple shooting victims and one homicide. Unfortunately we see it time and again. Think about the last time a city won a major sports championship, said Greg Woods, a professor in the San Jose State University Department of Justice Studies.
San Jose police said the first reports of violence came in around 8 p.m. A bullet-riddled windshield tells part of the tale, as two men were shot in the 900 block of East Santa Clara Street near Roosevelt Park. One of the victims died, marking the 15th homicide in the city of 2021. The other was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
10:30 p.m., April 17, N Cabrillo Highway at Coronado Street
Deputies contacted an intoxicated subject walking along the southbound shoulder of Highway 1. The person was placed under arrest and booked into jail.
Suspended license
12:15 a.m., April 19, N. Cabrillo Highway at Capistrano Road
San Mateo County deputies stopped a driver during a traffic stop who they said had a suspended license. The subject was issued a citation and released on a promise to appear.
Half Moon Bay
5:39 p.m., April 22, 100 block San Mateo Road
Deputies made a traffic stop and when they searched the driver they say they found drugs. The subject was cited and released on his a promise to appear in court.
