SCVNews com | Early-Morning Valencia House Fire Quickly Doused

Firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire in the Valencia Hills neighborhood Wednesday morning. The call came out shortly after 6:30 a.m. on the 25500 block of Via Brava in Valencia, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Supervisor Franklin Lopez. Units arriving on the scene found flames and smoke showing from one room in a single-family residence, Lopez said. Not even 10 minutes later, firefighters called knock down of the blaze, preventing it from spreading into other areas of the house, Lopez added. One woman was transported to the hospital following the incident for unknown reasons. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs on Thursday launched Reimagine Public Art, a virtual exhibition produced by DCA’s Public Art Division that highlights how artists respond to, and reimagine, Los Angeles amidst social, economic and healthcare emergencies. The L.A. County Metro board of directors approved a $679.4 million total budget for the Interstate 5 North County Enhancement Project in the Santa Clarita Valley on Thursday, setting the stage for the project to move forward with construction of new carpool lanes.

Join the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., to learn about and provide input on our Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) Update. This is the second virtual public workshop on the UWMP, which is one of the required plans our agency must complete as part of our long-term resource planning to ensure that adequate water supplies are available to meet existing and future needs. Workshop participants will learn the outcomes of SB X7-7, the State’s water conservation law, and how our area performed in terms of water use efficiency. We will also touch on population projections for the Santa Clarita Valley, how much water we need to plan for that population, and our drought risk assessment. The workshop will also offer the public an opportunity to ask questions and provide input.
