Dozens of seniors in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District were honored this week.
Close to 50 seniors in the district, along with their recruiters and families joined in Monday evening as the seniors joining the military following graduation were celebrated.
The event took place as a drive-thru this year.
The district says 12 seniors have committed to the army, three to the navy, five to the air force and 26 to the marines.

The virtual event Wednesday featured reflections from county Superintendent of Schools Susan Salcido and Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Glenn Morris. The discussion revolved around how teachers, parents and students have adapted since March 2020 and a new partnership between the chamber and education office.
