All grades are now back to in-person learning in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.
Seniors returned first, followed by ninth graders last week. Grades 10
th and 11
th returned to the classroom Tuesday.
The students at Delta, Righetti, Pioneer Valley and Santa Maria high schools are on a hybrid schedule.
Students who did not want to return to in-person learning had the option to continue with distance learning.
Graduation ceremonies for the schools are set for June 10 and 11. Graduating seniors can each have two family members in attendance.

A Santa Maria teacher is being recognized.
The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District says Miguel Guerra, an ag teacher at Righetti High, was one of two educators in Santa Barbara County chosen to receive the 2021 Marvin Melvin Career Technical Educator Award.
The awards recognize outstanding career-technical educators in the county and are in memory of Marvin Melvin, a longtime Santa Barbara High School Industrial Arts teacher âknown for his quick wit and bow tie, taught machine shop, metal and drafting classes.â

Freshmen students at Santa Maria High School arrived on campus Tuesday
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - More students in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District returned to the classroom Tuesday with only a few weeks left in the school year.
Freshmen at Santa Maria High School were given the red-carpet, welcome-back treatment from faculty and staff.
All of the high schools in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District are in the same reopening mode. Even if its five weeks of experience on campus, that means next fall we ll be that much more ready to hit the ground running when we come back in full swing, said Steve Campbell, Santa Maria High School s principal.

Ninth graders in the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District returned to the classroom Tuesday for the first time in more than a year.
The students at Delta, Righetti, Pioneer Valley and Santa Maria high schools were greeted with balloons, signs and cheers.
Their return comes about three weeks after seniors in the district returned on a hybrid schedule.

Students are being given the option to continue with distance learning if they choose.
