San Joaquin County will remain in the red tier of California s color-coded COVID-19 reopening blueprint for the sixth week in a row despite decreases in positivity and confirmed case rates.
The county is among 10 of California s 58 counties that remain in the red and have not been able to see coronavirus restrictions further loosened as case rates continue to fall across the state.
San Joaquin County Public Health Officer Maggie Park told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday that, while newly confirmed cases continue to drop, the county s numbers have not lowered enough to move into a less-restrictive tier. The county previously spent months in the purple tier, the state s most restrictive COVID-19 classification, following a post-holiday surge in December that threatened to overwhelm hospitals.

LODI, Calif. Over in the city of Lodi, a trip to the next COVID-19 vaccine clinic could save you $25 or more on your utility bill.

In a phone interview, Mayor Alan Nakanishi said the city got $16 million in funds and could use about $250,000 on vaccine incentives in the future. He said the idea for the utility credit came about because some residents were struggling with their utility bills.
