Perch Raises $2 5M in Seed Funding

Backers included Marcy Venture Partners, Citi, Softbank Opportunity Fund, Concrete Rose and Village Capital.  The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand its reach. Led by Michael Broughton, co-founder and CEO, Perch provides an app that allows users to build credit using their recurring expenses they are already paying for, such as Netflix, Hulu, Spotify or rent. By using a person’s existing payments and subscriptions to demonstrate responsibility to U.S. credit bureau partners, Perch can establish a person’s credit history. With the app, users can see an improvement in their credit score in less than 30 days compared to the typical 6-8 months it takes, on average, to build credit using a credit card or loan.

Squire Technologies, a NYC- and Buffalo, NY-based provider of a platform for barbershops around the world to operate and scale their businesses, secured $59m in a Series C funding. The round, which included $44m in equity financing and $15m in debt financing and brought total amount raised to date to approx. $105m, was led by ICONIQ Capital with participation from Tiger Global, Charles River Ventures, Trinity Ventures, New General Market Ventures, and SoftBank Opportunity Fund, as well as celebrity and strategic investors Stephen Curry, Trevor Noah, Quincy Jones, Tooey Courtemanche, Ara Mahdessian, Vahe Kuzoyan, and Pharrell Williams. It’s the second health company in as many days to announce a relocation to Birmingham. On Tuesday, digital health company Acclinate announced it is moving its corporate headquarters from Huntsville to Birmingham.
