A $2.7 million renovation at St. Bonfice Hospitalâs mental health building has transformed the ward to look less like one and more like a home for thousands of patients who seek care each year.
Those renovations were completed in April, two years after the hospital began fundraising for an initial $1.6 million to make improvements to the McEwen Building, which houses 34 patient beds. In the time since, 92 donors stepped forward to help foot the bill. Financial support also came from the province and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to fund the buildingâs safety upgrades.

He said Stonehouse came out five to 10 minutes later and said she was told she had normal symptoms and was turned away.
In a statement Covenant Health said they offer their condolences to Stonehouse’s family and loved ones.
“Covenant Health, in collaboration with Alberta Health Services, is actively investigating all circumstances surrounding her visit to the emergency department, and have assured the family we are looking into their concerns.”
By April 30, Lowenberg said Stonehouse was “basically bedridden” and she was taken to the Strathcona Hospital in Sherwood Park.
“They immediately admitted her, ran a CT scan on her and found a blood clot, with a brain bleed,” he said.

EDMONTON – Wilf Lowenberg says his longtime family friend might still be alive had a hospital emergency department taken her side-effects from a COVID-19 shot more seriously.
Lisa Stonehouse’s family has said she went to the ER at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton on April 29 with a severe headache after receiving the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine about a week earlier.
